All the rain has led to a massive sprouting of mushrooms all over the park. I've enjoyed walking and looking at all the different shapes and sizes. The original manuscript of Peter Pan (more fairies, fewer pirates) says that when you find a circle of mushrooms, fairies have been having a ball there. I think there was some dancing on the Greenward under the moon a couple of nights ago.
Park Friends is the only non-profit group in Memphis dedicated to providing a community voice to all our public parks. We are a Midtown-based group that focus our volunteer efforts on Overton Park, the grand old park of the Memphis, but speak out on park issues facing the entire community. I'm the current Park Friends president, but this blog contains my personal thoughts about the park and park issues across Memphis. Any opinions given are my own and not board ratified positions.
Visit the Park Friends website at parkfriends.net for more information about the group.
